An optimistic leader is a futuristic leader

What makes a leader? The simple definition of a leader is somebody who motivates a group of people towards achieving a common goal. Leadership isn’t just a job title, it involves steering your organization in the most upbeat and positive direction through the realization of success in a rapid and ever-changing world, immediately adjusting your style to meet the changing needs of a team.

Any logical man will argue that you cannot foretell the future: they’d say, “the future is unknown to any man.” However, the future clearly defies any logic reasoning, therefore, a futuristic leader would possess a different kind of mind-set that allows them see the bigger picture and stay ahead of the game. They see the future and simply make it happen.

Like Steve Jobs once said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”

People often perceive that optimistic people are completely unrealistic. However, optimism is a critical and powerful leadership quality. Being an optimistic leader isn’t about defying reality, rather it is about the ability to remain focussed on a goal even when faced with difficulties and setbacks. An optimistic leader believes that their team will triumph and become successful despite the hardships. This unique trait has proven repeatedly to overcome challenges, improve productivity and even boost follower morale.

Futuristic leaders are true leaders who dream of what could be, inspire others who see it, and then lead them toward the future. Believing in creating an entirely new future, they are motivated to achieve great things by turning their ideas into reality. A true leader grasps at opportunities whilst others sulk in misery and are blinded by uncertainty.

In the words of Winston Churchill “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty”

Tomorrow’s leaders are risk takers, they challenge themselves and ensure their teams to have a change of habit, behaviour and culture in order to achieve and live their dream. They understand what it means to truly win the future, they pursue a vision and turn it into reality, regardless of unexpected factors that might try to hinder. They have a confident attitude toward things and tend to infect others with their strong and optimistic mind set in times of despair when morale is down.

Trusting their skills and abilities, futuristic leaders vividly imagine the big picture and search for necessary changes that should be made in order to get there. They carefully look for clues and essential information; surround themselves with creative intellectuals and positive minds that’ll guide them. They constantly ask, ‘what if’ and ‘why’ to navigate the future, a future they see most clearly and set out to reach as swift as possible.
